Troop 50 is 1 of 3 troops in Georgetown, MA:

  • -50(meets St. Mary's, Knights of Columbus)
  • -51(meets at First Congregational Church)
  • -52(Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints).
  • In addition to the 3 Boy Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs 50 and 51 also serve Georgetown's 5-11 year old category

Troop 50 was chartered on May 1, 1966, making the 2008/09 season our 43rd year in service to the community.  Membership varies from 15-30 boys, ages 11-18.  Boys are encouraged to join at any age, whether they have previously participated in Cub Scouting or not.  Scout are divided into Patrols of 8-10.  Scouts participate and learn to lead through the BSA Patrol Method.  The adult leadership is there to supervise, teach, and provide themselves as mentors to all scouts.  Several of the adult leaders are Eagle Scouts, from both Troop 50 and other troops.  Parents are always encouraged to participate and take an active role in the troop.  In Troop 50, we believe that "leadership means setting an example worth following".
